SUMMARY:SPE CIS Symposium: Advanced Integrated Production Solutions
DESCRIPTION:The SPE Central Iraq Section is pleased to organize the technical symposium titled “Advanced Integrated Production Solutions”\, hosted by the Ministry of Oil (Petroleum R&D Center) and sponsored by Novomet. \nThe symposium will bring together industry professionals\, technical specialists\, researchers\, academics\, young professionals\, and students to explore advanced technologies that support production efficiency\, equipment reliability\, energy optimisation\, and improved operational performance. \n \n \nDuring the event\, Novomet company experts\, which is a global oilfield services company headquartered in Dubai\, UAE and specializes in artificial lift equipment—primarily electrical submersible pumps (ESPs) will present insights about topics related to: \n\n \n\nPermanent Magnet Motors for ESP Applications\n\nView Abstract\nHide Abstract\n\nPermanent Magnet Motors (PMMs) offer a high-efficiency alternative to conventional induction motors in ESP systems by eliminating rotor current losses and magnetizing current requirements. This results in efficiencies greater than 95%\, higher power density\, and improved thermal performance. PMM-driven ESPs enable higher rotational speeds\, reduced motor size\, and fewer pump stages\, enhancing system flexibility and energy efficiency. The technology supports optimized pump design under varying reservoir conditions while reducing operational energy consumption and thermal constraints. \n\n\n\n \n\nExpanding ESP Applications Using High-Speed PMM Technology\n\nView Abstract\nHide Abstract\n\nHigh-speed PMM-driven ESP systems enable a step-change in ESP deployment by introducing ultra-slim configurations with high power density and thermal stability. These systems allow installation in restricted wellbores\, including damaged casing and 7-in. completions with Y-tools\, and improve the feasibility of rigless deployment across a wider range of production profiles. The reduced system size and intervention complexity expand ESP applications into well unloading\, gas-well dewatering\, and short-term production services\, while improving CAPEX and OPEX efficiency in mature and marginal fields. \n\n\n\n \n\nHorizontal Pumping Systems and Industrial Pumps\n\nView Abstract\nHide Abstract\n\nHorizontal Pumping Systems (HPS) provide a surface-based alternative for high-rate\, low-intake-pressure applications\, with demonstrated operation at suction pressures as low as approximately 0.26 bar. The multistage horizontal configuration\, combined with variable-speed drive control\, enables stable multiphase handling\, flexible operation\, and simplified maintenance. HPS is well suited for booster service\, pipeline transfer\, and water injection\, particularly in brownfield upgrades. Complementary industrial pumps manufactured in accordance with API 610 and ISO 5199 support large-scale fluid handling across oilfield and industrial applications\, improving system efficiency and reducing infrastructure complexity. \n\n\n\n \n\nIPOS: Real-Time ESP Optimization\n\nView Abstract\nHide Abstract\n\nThe Integrated Production Optimization System (IPOS) is a real-time surveillance and control framework for ESP operations\, combining edge data acquisition\, telemetry\, and physics-based diagnostics. It enables early detection of operational instabilities such as gas interference and off-design operation\, reducing misdiagnosed failures and unnecessary interventions. Field deployment across more than 80 wells has demonstrated improved uptime and production recovery\, including the avoidance of ESP workovers and the recovery of approximately 7\,500 barrels through proactive optimization. \n\n\n\n\nThe sessions will be delivered by Novomet experts and technical leaders and aim to promote technical knowledge exchange\, strengthen cooperation between industry professionals\, fostering cooperation among institutions\, and provide participants with practical insights into advanced artificial lift\, pumping\, and digital optimisation technologies. \n\nWho Should Attend\nProduction engineers\, petroleum engineers\, artificial-lift specialists\, operations personnel\, researchers\, academics\, professionals\, and SPE members. \n\nRegistration\nNote: Registration is subject to review and prior approval\, and priority will be given to SPE members. \nSubmitting the registration form does not guarantee participation in the event. All submitted forms will be reviewed\, and only selected applicants will be contacted by email to confirm their attendance. The names of confirmed participants will then be submitted to the Ministry of Oil for the issuance of the required entry permits. \nRegistration Deadline: July 30\, 2026 \nRegister Now
