SPE disseminates knowledge through meetings, training programs, newsletters, and special member activities. It has regional offices in cities like Dallas, Calgary, Houston, London, Kuala Lumpur, and Dubai, with 203 professional sections and 417 student chapters globally. The SPE Central Iraq Section (SPE CIS), was originally established as the SPE Baghdad Section in 2015 and upgraded in 2024 to SPE CIS to cover eight provinces in central Iraq.

Section Membership History
The following figure illustrates the section’s membership, encompassing both professional members within the section and student members in the SPE Student Chapters sponsored by the section, both inside and outside Iraq.
Starting in 2024, the section aims to achieve its highest membership record, particularly following the transition from the SPE Baghdad Section to the SPE Central Iraq Section. This transition has expanded our jurisdiction to include eight provinces within Iraq, allowing us to broaden our reach and impact.

SPE Central Iraq Section Awards
Since its establishment in 2015, the SPE Central Iraq Section (formerly SPE Baghdad Section) has been awarded the Section Excellence Award in 2021, 2022, and 2023 by SPE International for its activities and excellence.
