Meet Our Speakers:
1. Baraa Zubaidi, Dip, BEng, MSc, EMBA
Deputy Chairperson, SPE International – Central Iraq Section

Baraa Zubaidi is a Renewable Energy Researcher and Deputy Chairperson of SPE International – Central Iraq Section. He heads the Energy Economics Research Unit at the Iraqi Think Tank for Energy Studies, Petroleum R&D Center, Ministry of Oil. With a strong focus on renewable energy integration in the oil and gas sector, Baraa combines technical & economic expertise with strategic leadership. He is a Chevening, UNITAR, and IRENA Youth I ACT alumnus. His academic credentials include an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, UK, an EMBA from Quantic School of Businesses and Technology, US, and a BEng and Diploma in Electricity from MUC and BOTI. He has received 12 honors/Awards and actively supports youth empowerment and sustainable development.
2. Ahmed Hashim
Projects Readiness Team Lead
British Petroleum (BP)

Mr. Ahmed Hasim, a chemical engineer graduated from Al-Nahrain University (2013). He is a seasoned professional in the oil and gas industry with roles at Shell, Gazprom, Anton Oil, and BP, where he currently serves as a Projects Readiness Team Lead. He has also led training efforts at Ishtar Company and contributed to Gulf Land. Beyond industry, Ahmed is an entrepreneur and founder of Forsa organization, promoting innovation and youth empowerment. He’s an alumnus of IYLEP, UNITAR, and ILF, and represented Iraq at the IMF Annual Meetings in Morocco, discussing global issues such as climate change, digitalization, and economic growth
